PRIMARY school pupils are learning tennis skills in the lead up to the prestigious Davis Cup clash.

Around 25 schools from across the city have taken part in mini tennis festivals at the Emirates Arena this week.

The sporting activity comes ahead of the cup match between Great Britain and the USA.

Scots favourite Andy Murray and his brother Jamie are among those competing.

Between training Andy has been taking in the sights, including a visit to Hampden.

A festival spokesman said: "The tennis fun day will introduce children to the basic skills needed to get started and then get them having lots of fun with tennis inflatables where pupils will be able to see how fast they can serve, hit targets and play in a mini tennis arena.

"Highly qualified tennis coaches, sports leaders and coach core apprentices will be on hand to guide pupils through each activity station on the day and make sure they get the most out of the event."

Pupils were also given the chance to meet some of the Davis Cup tennis players, who have been training for the clash.

It took just 10 minutes in November for tickets for the meeting between GB and the USA at Glasgow's Emirates Arena to sell out.
