PUPILS from a Pollok secondary school have come top in a competition to transform the city's waste.
The teenagers from St Paul's High School will now go through to the Scottish final of the Engineering Development Trusts Go4SET science and education programme.
A total of 13 schools across the city took part in a 10-week programme of visits, presentations and research before their work was assessed by a panel of experts from the Scottish Government, Zero Waste Scotland and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
The programme in Glasgow is sponsored by Viridor which is behind the £154million recycling and renewable energy centre being built at Polmadie.
The Go4SET programme was open to every city secondary and linked teams of second year pupils with Viridor and city council land and environment staff to offer a practical hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics experience.
Youth employment Minister Angela Constance said: "It's great to see initiatives such as the Go4SET programme encouraging pupils' participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics."
