£1MILLION is being invested by Transport Scotland to resurface the M74.

The first stage of the programme, which is being carried out by Scotland Transerv, will begin at the end of April and will see more than £250,000 of repairs to four stretches of the M74 between junctions 6 and 12.

Traffic management and diversions will be in place throughout to allow the work to go ahead safely.

On April 27 and 28 Junction 6 will see the closure of the on slip from Motherwell to the M74 from 8pm to 6am.

The road from junctions 8 to 6 will be closed and diversions will be in place.

April 28 and 30 will see the offslip to Hamilton closed at junction 6 and on April 30 and May 1 junctions 11 and 12 will be closed southbound.

Gordon Wilson, Contract Director for Scotland Transerv said: “We are doing all we can to keep disruption as a result of the work to a minimum and motorists can keep up to date with real time traffic information by visiting the Traffic Scotland website and following their Twitter feed.”
