THE wife of a heart attack patient is encouraging others to reach out to support services for families.
Angela Currie said she found it difficult to cope after her husband Billy was discharged from hospital after the attack.
However, the couple, from Overtown, say NHS Lanark-shire's Coronary Heart Disease Network helped them get their lives back on track.
Angela said: "When Billy suffered his heart attack it was a frightening time for both of us and we felt isolated. I felt we would benefit from some extra support and we decided to attend the Heart Open Day.
"The network of support available for people in our position was amazing.
"We got to speak to doctors, nurses and also exchange stories with people who were in the same situation as us."
Angela said she benefited from the event by speaking to people who had also stepped into a carer's role.
The next Heart Open Day is on Friday, at the GLO Centre, Motherwell, from 10am to 3pm.
