FORMER Glasgow MP Mohammad Sarwar, 60, is recovering well in hospital after a heart attack suffered while returning from a trip to Pakistan.
Mr Sarwar, who was taken to a Manchester hospital on Monday, had learned on Tuesday that his father, Mohammed Abdullah, 93, died days earlier. Mr Sarwar's son, Anas, Labour MP for Glasgow Central and an Evening Times columnist, travelled to his bedside.
A Labour party spokesman said Govan's ex-MP was "alert and responding well to treatment".
