BIG-hearted charity chiefs have donated a defibrillator to the Dennistoun branch of St Andrew's First Aid.

Its volunteers attend SPL and lower league football fixtures, rugby matches featuring Glasgow Warriors and various athletics competitions.

Just one Scot out of 100 survives a heart attack when not in hospital and the chances of survival lessen every minute a victim goes without defibrillation.

The machines can be operated by non-medically trained users.

Stephanie Stewart of St Andrew's First Aid, said: "This can mean the difference between life and death."

Local people have endorsed an action plan for improvements between the revamped Dalmarnock rail station and the River Clyde.

Clyde Gateway got the green light to proceed following a two-day consultation exercise.

ENTERPRISING children dreamed up their own tasty fillings to celebrate British Sandwich Week with the help of Gallowgate-based Possibilities East End Kids.

The charity's play rangers helped mark last week's celebrations by handing out boxes packed with different breads and ingredients so that youngsters attending play and fun club sessions could make their own sandwiches.

SUPERMARKET workers in Parkhead have been carrying out community work in the area as part of an initiative by a supermarket chain.

Staff at the local Asda store along with colleagues at six other city supermarkets together spent more than 1743 hours last year on voluntary work, helping raise over £236,000 for Glasgow-wide community groups and projects.
