Help us to be good sports

SPORTS and leisure enthusiasts are being asked to give their views on a council's facilities – to help make them even better.

It follows publication of a five-year plan on how sports and leisure centres will operate across Renfrewshire, what activities should be taking place in them and how people can make best use of the facilities.

Now Renfrewshire Leisure – the management trust that runs sports and leisure facilities locally – wants to know what the public think of its programme, named Active Communities, Active Lives, which sets out a vision for 2013-18.

There are 10 sports and leisure centres in Renfrewshire and a £40million building programme is almost complete.

New sports hubs at Linwood and Johnstone are under construction, there is a new fitness suite and swimming pool refurbishment at The Lagoon in Paisley, and improvements at other centres.

Joyce McKellar, Renfrewshire Leisure chief executive, said: "The most important people to us are the local community, who are our customers and potential new customers. We want to know what they want from their sports and leisure facilities."

Read the consultative document at www.renfrewshireleisure.com, where there is also a link to the survey. A booklet version can be had from the Lagoon Leisure Centre.
