GLASGOW'S East End is leading the rest of the country in the use of new technology.

A 3D interactive app for the iPad has been launched which enables prospective tenants to take a virtual tour of a new three-storey office complex which is currently being built.

It's thought the hi-tech application is the first of its kind for a new office build in Scotland.

Prospective tenants can look at images from architectural plans, while five interactive cameras giving 360- degree views gives them to chance to change office layouts, including selecting different floor and wall finishes.

The iPad app has been created by regeneration chiefs at Clyde Gateway in partnership with commercial real estate company Colliers International.

It is for the new £4.5 million Albus complex, under construction at a vacant site near Bridgeton Cross, which will feature seven offices to let with the capacity to accommodate up to 150 workers.

The Albus will sit next to the Eastgate offices, which are occupied by 500 staff from Community Safety Glasgow.

Fionna Kell, at Clyde Gateway said: "We want to build on that success and attract more companies to the East End into offices which are contemporary and incredibly efficient to operate.

"This new app demonstrates exactly what is on offer and is a far better way of getting things across than merely relying on words and still-images in a promotional brochure."

Matt Bellshaw, of Colliers International, added: "The Clyde Gateway app provides a fresh and innovative approach to marketing a property that is still under development, and taking visualisation to an advanced 3D level gives tenants a tool to provide inspiration to create their own work environments."

Construction work began last November and is due to be completed in June.

The Albus - the Latin word for white - reflects the fact that the finished building will be clad in white concrete.
