IT was a night to remember following an historic day when an Emirates A380 made aviation history by touching down in Scotland for the first time.

Glasgow Airport was the chosen destination when the giant double decker Airbus landed with hundreds of passengers, airline chiefs and VIPs from Dubai for a one-off three hour long visit which made international headlines.

It was a birthday gift from the Emirates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of direct flights between the west coast hub and the United Arab Emirates.

The pilot came from Clydebank and the hand picked cabin crew came from towns in and around the city including Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire and Paisley in Renfrewshire.

Airline officials later hosted a special dinner at Glasgow Hilton to toast a memorable day.
