A man was knifed in a daylight attack while on his way to the shops.

The attacker pounced as the victim was walking along Kilmaurs Road in Govan at 5.15pm on Saturday.

Police said he ­engaged the 21-year old in conversation then ­attacked him with a knife before running off.

The victim was taken to the Southern General Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Neil Guy, who is dealing with the inquiry, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack on a man who was making his way to shops when he was ­approached by the suspect. We're continuing our inquiries into the assault, and checking nearby CCTV.

"I'd like to speak to anyone who was in the local area around the time of the assault, which occurred in broad daylight, to get in touch with police."

The suspect is described as white, 6ft, and with short blonde or brown hair.

Officers at the Community Investigation Unit at Pollok have appealed directly to then local community for any information.
