LITTLE Harris Sweeney was all smiles as he celebrated winning our Times Tots 2013 competition.

The 20-month-old raced round the house cheering with his big brother Robert, six, when they opened yesterday's Evening Times and found Harris's picture in pride of place.

Mum, Laura, 27, said she and dad Robert, 27, were "over the moon" that Harris had been voted the cutest child in the city.

More than 58,000 people cast their votes in this year's competition and little Harris came out on top, closely followed by two-year-old Holly McKenzie, from Bridgeton, in second place, and nine-month-old Molly McIlroy who was placed third.

It is the third year running that a boy has taken our Times Tot title.

Laura said: "I was sobbing this morning when I saw the paper, I couldn't believe it. I am so grateful for friends, neighbours and family who voted for him.

"He was all smiles this morning when he saw himself. He and his brother were all excited because there was another big picture of him.

"He is a happy wee boy and he's full of life. He is a wee charmer and such a good boy."

Little Harris has won £1000, a £400 gift voucher for Smyths Toys Superstore, plus a VIP lunch with Santa at Hamleys toy store in the St Enoch Centre.

Laura, who works as an admin assistant, said he would be very excited to choose which toys to take home.

She said: "This will be the first Christmas he understands what is going on. Last year he didn't have a clue and just played with the boxes and the wrapping paper."

Harris is a big fan of Batman and Laura suspects there might be lots of toys of the superhero in his shopping trolley when he spends the vouchers.

She said: "Harris will get to spend the vouchers on himself. We are going to have Batman, that's what he will want."

Times Tots 2013 launched in October and a total of 600 youngsters had their pictures taken by Evening Times photo- graphers at the St Enoch Centre.

All the photographs appeared in the news-paper and Harris won after a series of rounds of voting.

It was the first time he had entered and it only came about after his aunties Linda and Helen Sweeney took him to get his picture taken.

Laura said: "I think Times Tots is great. It is lovely, especially when you see the full 600 children, I think it is a great thing for the kids."
