DETECTIVES are today hunting a gang who stabbed a young man in a knife attack.

The 24-year-old suffered stab wounds and a head injury in the incident, which police are treating as attempted murder.

Police said, following an "altercation" with two men and two women, the man was stabbed.

The vicious attack took place at around 9.30pm on Sunday in the Foxbar area of Paisley.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Morar Drive, near to Gareloch Avenue, after the alarm was raised.

Police said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he is being treated for stab wounds and a head injury.

Both men are described as white and in their 20s.

One was stripped to the waist and wearing jeans, while the other is described as wearing three-quarter length khaki shorts, and a black T-shirt.

Both female suspects are described as white and in their 20s.

One woman has dark hair, which was tied up in a ponytail. She was wearing a black vest top.

The other woman has long blonde hair, and was wearing a light-coloured jumper with light-coloured jeans.

Officers are studying CCTV from the area in a bid to trace the suspects.

Detective Inspector Julie Henry is leading the investigation.

She said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area in an effort to gather more information about those responsible.

"At this time, I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack, or has any information that may assist police enquiries to come forward."
