POLICE are hunting two bike-riding thieves who snatched a woman's handbag in a daylight attack.

The 36-year-old victim was walking in Berwick Drive, Cardonald, when two men, both on mountain bikes, approached her.

One of them snatched her handbag and they cycled off in the direction of Cardonald Library.

It happened at around 11.55am on Wednesday.

Police said her bag contained a three-figure sum of cash and personal items.

The woman fell to the ground during the incident and suffered bruising.

Witnesses have been urged to come forward in a bid to catch the culprits.

Police said they are white and were wearing dark clothing.

One wore a black skip cap and the other a dark woolly hat. One of the mountain bikes was dark with bright green forks.

Detective Inspector Fergus Hutcheson said: "This was a cowardly attack on a lone woman. It is important that those responsible are caught.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Berwick Drive around noon on Wednesday and saw the incident to come forward.

"Anyone who thinks they know who the suspects are, or recognises the description of the bike, should speak to police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
