Looking for your first car but don’t want to spend too much? Well, look no further than this 51mph motorised Sainbury’s shopping trolley which has hit eBay.
The seller from Wantage in Oxfordshire - known only as motormaster5000 or ‘Jasper’ - has decided to let go of his creation which took him three years to build.
Originally, he started the project with the intention of setting the world record, which was 44mph at the time.
However, after this increased to over 70mph once he finished, sadly, he gave up.
“The reason for selling is lack of use and need for garage space,” he explained.
Highlighting its USP, he said: “It uses the engine, transmission and axle from a 340cc Honda go kart so it is fairly quick - I have measured it at 51mph.
“It featured on the Alan Titchmarsh show in 2014 along with Colin Furze, who can be seen riding it in the photos.”
After 57 bids so far, the price tag is sitting at £620.
“Unfortunately,” he explained, “the trolley is not in the same condition as pictured. It has been left in the garage while I’ve been at uni and not seen much use.
“When I last used it (about a year ago) everything worked as far as I can remember with the exception of the nitrous oxide kit, and at least one tyre.

“Nothing big is missing so it could be restored, but I stress that potential buyers must not expect to receive the trolley in the same condition as in the photos.”
All monies raised from the sale will go towards WaterAid which aims to improve access to safe water, hygiene, and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.
And in other trolley-related news, an eBayer from West Yorkshire is also currently selling a “fabulous iconic original” Sainsbury’s trolley from the 80s - for £300.
