A paedophile has been jailed for possessing a manual which contained advice and guidance about sexually abusing children.

Kirk Pears, 38, kept the book with nearly 14,000 indecent images of children - described by detectives as "some of the worst they’ve ever seen".

The sick haul was found when police raided his home in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, in November 2016 after receiving a tip-off.

They seized a number of electrical devices, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones and external hard drives.

At Norwich Crown Court on Thursday, Pears pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and possessing a paedophile manual.

He was jailed for 12 months and given a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Pears was also placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for ten years.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Constable Nicky Gaughan of Norfolk Police said: "This was a particularly awful investigation with specialist officers viewing images which were some of the worst they’ve ever seen.

"A child is victimised not only when they are abused and an image is taken, but every time that image is viewed by someone.

"We hope such a case sends a strong message out to offenders that the internet is not a safe anonymous space for accessing indecent images.

"They leave a digital footprint and we will find it."
