Inter-city express plan could hit buffers

PLANS to run express trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh should be scrapped if it means sacrificing local services, according to Glasgow City Council.

The council is to tell Network Rail its improvement plans for the inter-city line are unnecessary and would damage regeneration in Glasgow.

Last month the Evening Times revealed that services between Anniesland and Queen Street were at risk as they would have to give priority to more Edinburgh trains running to Queen Street.
