Carluccios is opening a combined restaurant, food store and deli in the £20million extension at Silverburn when work is completed in October.

The authentic Italian eatery is the fifth to be announced. The others are TGI Fridays, Zizzi and Pizza Express as well as Glasgow's first Cosmo restaurant.

Simon Kossoff, chief executive of the Carlucccios chain, said: "We opened our first Carluccio's in Glasgow's West Nile Street some years back to much success and hope that our second venture in the city will prove as successful."
