When Maryhill Burgh Halls opened on April 26, 1878, two hand crafted silver keys were designed by a Glasgow jeweller to mark the occasion.

Astonishingly, more than 133 years later, one of the original keys has been discovered, in time for next month's re-opening of the restored building.

The keys, created in the shape of a fish slice, were the work of Sorleys, an Argyle Street jewellery firm, and were a gift to Maryhill Provost James Roberston.
