A Glasgow nursery has gone to the top of the class as it celebrates a decade in business.

The Jack and Jill Nursery, in Possilpark, marks 10 years of childcare next month and its owners say the business is going from strength to strength.

Hundreds of young kids have passed through its doors since it was set up in February 2000 by married couple Bill and Mattie Reilly.

And a whole host of events are being staged in the lead-up to next month’s special day.

Despite the credit crunch, The Jack and Jill Nursery has thrived.

It now has has more than a dozen members of staff and is managed by Bill and Mattie’s daughter, Kim.

Kim said: “Over the last 10 years we have continuously strived to improve the service we offer to families and have maintained very good standards.

“Our best asset is our warm and caring staff team. Everyone has been with us for many years.”

She added: “It is this ethos and emphasis on continuity of care that allows us to offer all the children the very best support for their individual development from the day they join us to their graduation day.”

Nursery staff are all qualified to HNC or SVQ Level III and assistant nursery nurses are training towards HNC or SVQ Level III.

The nursery provides regular in-house, as well as external training to support and develop staff.

Deputy manager Elizabeth has led the nursery in its campaign to become an Eco Nursery.

She said: “One of the reasons our nursery is such a happy and successful place is we have established strong links with the local community, parents and families. I am very proud of our nursery and the work that we do.”

Birthday celebrations, including a party for the children and bucks fizz for parents, will take place at the nursery tomorrow.
