A SHOP worker needed hospital treatment for a head injury after a Glasgow jeweller's was held up by robbers with a sword.

The 50-year-old was injured in a disturbance after two men, one with a sword, targeted RM Jewellers in Forfar Avenue, Cardonald.

The thugs ran off empty handed after threatening the worker and a female colleague about 3pm on Monday.

Police said the men escaped in a Skoda Octavia, heading towards Paisley Road West.

Detective Inspector Ian Hylands, of Helen Street CID, said: "The worker was not seriously hurt, but this could have had terrible consequences.

"I would ask anyone who saw the car speed off or saw it or the men in the area before or after the incident to call us."

One of the suspects was white, about 20-22, slim and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark grey hooded top.

The other was also white, about 20 and about 5ft 7in, slim and clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark hooded top and jogging bottoms.
