IT might seem a little early ...
but work has already begun on hanging Glasgow's much-loved Christmas lights.
Dozens of workers filled George Square to begin the huge task of making the city centre glow with festive cheer in time for November's big switch-on.
It takes four weeks to put up the lights, erect the giant Christmas tree and put the nativity scene in place for the second last Sunday in November when hundreds of families will gather to enjoy the Christmas carol sing along, then join in the big countdown and watch the spectacular fireworks display.
A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: "It's a big operation and takes a number of weeks to get all the lights up, the tree installed and make sure the traditional crib is in place.
"Four weeks might seem a long time, but it takes a lot of preparation of hard work to get the square in time.
"We want everything in order to ensure everyone's expectations are met for one of the most popular events in Glasgow's calendar."
