The airline is also expanding services at the west coast hub by adding a new plane to its city fleet and laying on tens of thousands of extra seats.

The moves come as the low fares airline prepares to offer more than 500,000 seats to 19 sun and city destina-tions next summer – that's around 100,000 seats more than current capacity.

Jet2.com is to add a fourth holiday jet to its Glasgow fleet and revealed it will fly to three new destinations – the Balearic Island of Menorca, Murcia on Spain's Costa Calida and the Croatian resort of Pula.

The airline is the first to offer flights to Murcia and Pula from Glasgow.

The expansion will generate 50 jobs bringing the airline's workforce at Glasgow to more than 200. The new flights will take off next May and tickets are already on sale.

The airline's chief commercial officer Steve Heapy said: "Glasgow is an important base for us and as we enter our third year we are delighted to announce more new destinations our customers want.

"We recently ann-ounced Bodrum and Gran Canaria, which are also new for next year, meaning passengers have even more fantastic holiday options direct from Glasgow.

"Adding our fourth dedicated aircraft is also great news."

The rapid expansion of Jet2 since it began flying in and out of Scotland's biggest airport almost three years ago was welcomed by Glasgow Airport's managing director Amanda McMillan.

She said the changes "clearly demonstrate Jet2.com's confidence in and commitment to Glasgow Airport. We are looking forward to working closely with Jet2.com in the coming months to ensure it enjoys further success."
