THE number of apprenticeships offered to young people at Scotland's biggest health board is to be increased.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has boosted its apprenticeship scheme this year with 55 posts targeting school-leavers.
The programme offers paid employment in a range of disciplines including care, management and technical posts.
The first couple of posts have already been advertised and a further two are being advertised this week.
The remainder will be advertised on a phased basis over the next three months.
Ian Reid, Director of Human Resources, is delighted that NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is involved with the Modern Apprenticeship programme. He said: "Offering young people the opportunity to train in a skill that could shape their future is something we are proud to be involved with.
"The feedback from Directors and Managers on the young people already recruited through the programme is extremely positive and we are very pleased to continue this year with a further 55 apprenticeship posts."
The training and education is managed and commissioned by the NHSGGC's Learning and Education department.
