Lord Provost Sadie Docherty launched Baby's First Christmas as she cuddled one-month-old Giulia Lambert from the East End.
The popular event sees 1000 infants from the city invited to special celebrations where they will receive the gift of a silver-coloured angel, a Hamleys teddy bear and a certificate to mark the occasion.
The first 250 babies registered will be invited with their parents to meet Mrs Docherty in the City Chambers banqueting hall on December 7.
The remaining 750 will get their special gift at a ceremony in Hamleys toy store.
Baby's First Christmas, which is organised by the city council and sponsored by the St Enoch Centre, has attracted thousands of infants and their families since it began in 2005.
Last year, the Lord Provost celebrated the event with the arrival of her first grandchild Christina Grace.
She said: "New mums and dads really look forward to their first Christmas with a new baby.
"I am delighted to be able to offer this exclusive event, one which marks a very special occasion for all families."
Anne Ledgerwood, general manager of the St Enoch Centre, said: "Christmas is always one of the most magical times of the year. We also know it is a special time for children.
"As one of Glasgow's leading shopping centres we are proud to be sponsoring this event and hope the day will give families memories to treasure for many years to come."
