A HEAVILY pregnant woman and her two young children escaped serious injury after joy-riding pupils wearing school uniforms hit their car.

The two young boys rammed into the family's car with a stolen silver Rover 75 during the high-speed drama in Glasgow's East End.

They carried on driving through the streets in Carntyne, as many parents collected their children from school after 3pm.

After smashing into a parked vehicle in Greyfriars Street, the two boys careered into the young family's car.

Police said nobody was injured - but that was only down to "good luck".

Officers urged any witnesses to come forward before the joy-riders strike again.

The stolen car was then driven through Cranhill Park, which was also busy with school children and parents.

Officers investigating the terror joy-ride said the silver Rover was stolen from Duror Street, at 3.15pm on Monday.

Forensic officers are now carrying out tests on the vehicle, which was found dumped in Crowlin Crescent, Cranhill.

Both thieves are believed to have been wearing school uniform.

PC Elaine Lawrie, who is leading the investigation, said: "It is only by good luck that nobody was seriously injured, or worse, following the theft and subsequent reckless conduct of those driving the vehicle.

"I have information that those responsible may have been wearing school uniform.

"I urge anyone with information to come forward before any one is hurt in any similar incidents."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
