Creative kids will have their artwork featured on walls across East Renfrewshire after winning the council's road safety calendar 2015 competition.

Twelve pupils from local primary schools each have a drawing on a page of the calendar.

They were chosen out of more than 1,000 entries to the popular competition, which has been running for 30 years.

As well as seeing their work on the thousands of calendars printed, they have received a voucher and a certificate.

The talented 12 were invited to the East Renfrewshire Council chambers to a special presentation event with the Provost, Alastair Carmichael, distributing the prizes. They were joined by their parents and teachers.

Kirkhill Primary were the overall winners, and received the Rowan Quaich for being the best-performing school in the contest.

Provost Carmichael said: "What wonderfully creative and talented young people we have in our schools.

"The standard of entries is always extremely high and it's so hard to choose the 12 calendar pictures from the 1,000 or so our primary school pupils create.

"The road safety competition has proved very popular every year since it began in 1984.

"Very many congratulations to all our winners."

As well as homes, the calendars will hang in schools, libraries and public buildings.

The winners are: Ashmi Deb, P7, Netherlee, Tom McKnight, P3.2, Eaglesham, Amy Gallagher, P1c, Kirkhill, Phoebe McBain, P5a, Carolside, Annie Pandey, P1a, Kirkhill, Jessica Gibson, P5a, Giffnock, Fatima Malik, P3b, Kirkhill, Sean Kodra, P4b, Kirkhill, Zia Shah, P1C, Kirkhill, Andrew Laidlaw, P2C, Kirkhill and Maria McEwan, P6, Cross Arthurlie and Faith O'Donnell, P7b, Kirkhill.
