THE Titan Crane is to become a world engineering landmark, putting it in the same category as the Eiffel Tower.
The Clydebank tourist attraction is to be designated as an 'International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark' by four of the world's leading engineering institutions.
The award is based on the historical significance of the 106-year old Titan, which is now a well-loved visitor and education heritage centre on the River Clyde.
Previous recipients of the accolade include the Eiffel Tower and the Thames Tunnel.
The Titan has made a major contribution to Glasgow's shipbuilding industry,
A special ceremony is taking place next Tuesday to mark the occasion.
