CYCLE fans at a Clydeside path in Glasgow were given the lowdown on how to raise the bar in the small matter of racing.

After fuelling up on coffee and croissants at the Bike Breakfast, the participants took the fun bikes – which belong to Tom O'Hara of Cycling Scotland – for a spin along the Broomielaw.

Information about cycling in the city, bike maintenance and maps were handed out at the Glasgow City Council-run event, part of this week's Bike Week.

On Saturday a 40-mile ride will leave the City Chambers for Lochwinnoch. Cycling tips will be offered on Sunday at Glasgow Green to tie in with the British Cycling National Road Championships in the city that day, with more bike-related events being held next week.
