A PROJECT to help 200 families of children with special educational needs has been launched.

The Cornerstone Growing Together project has been given £380,000 of lottery cash and will work with four primaries in Glasgow - Broomlea, Croft-croighn, Hampden and Langlands.

Cornerstone's child-ren's services manager Susan Lorimer said they wanted to help parents become more confident by giving them information about help available from services in the community.

She said they were about to start visiting the schools to meet families who need extra help.

She said: "It could be for a range of things - sometimes parents just need to have a chat.

"The important thing is to link families so that they can share information. It's all about helping each other to grow in confidence."

The money was part of £1.6million Big Lottery Funding given to six projects.

Big Lottery Fund Scotland chairwoman Maureen McGinn said many families needed extra support during difficult times, with issues ranging from isolation to low income problems.
