Mall models to shine at student fashion show LAST MINUTE REHEARSALS AHEAD OF END OF TERM EXTRAVAGANZA

EVERY detail – from hems to buttonholes – is being checked and double-checked ahead of the glittering Caledonian University fashion show.

Students are working to put the finishing touches to their garments before the annual catwalk show at Silverburn Shopping Centre.

As well as high glamour gowns and dresses, the showcase on Thursday May 17 will include bold new designs for male leisure wear, created as part of a collaboration with Greaves Sports.

The catwalk designs have been created by second, third and fourth year students on the BA Honours Fashion Business Programme.

They each came up with their own themes to influence the design of each outfit.

As well designing the outfits, the students are responsible for every painstaking stitch, hem and seam in the finished look.

Guests from the biggest names on the high street, including Urban Outfitters and Greaves Sports, as well as designers who are working under their own label, such as GCU graduates Rebecca Torres, Mark Conlin and Leah Halliday, have been invited.

Fashion, Marketing and Retailing subject group leader, Dr Shirley Rate, said: "The show is always a thrilling end to the academic year.

"It gives us great exposure to a wider audience, allowing more people to see the fantastic, innovative ideas of our fashion business students."

The clothes will be modelled by catwalk professionals from the Glasgow-based All Talent – The Sonia Scott Agency.

Lynne Butler, Silverburn's marketing manager, added: "We are delighted to showcase exciting emerging talent from Glasgow Caledonian University."

The shows take place on May 17 at 2pm, 3.30pm, 5pm and 7pm, are open to the public and no tickets are required.
