BOSSES at the Silverburn shopping mall in Glasgow are set to serve up a major jobs bonanza by announcing details of nine new restaurants.

Italian eateries Zizzi and Pizza Express are the first to agree to open outlets at the South Side retail complex, while negotiations are expected to be finalised shortly with another seven restaurant chains.

Last night it was confirmed that Pizza Express and Zizzi will together create around 50 jobs and both will have signature open kitchens.

Zizzi will specialise in a range of Italian dishes including - like its near neighbour - pizzas and pastas.

But the other seven restaurants are expected to generate another 300 jobs and are part of a £20million expansion at Silverburn.

The first eateries will open their doors from November next year.

The leisure development will include a 14-screen Cineworld cinema complex which will bring another 100 jobs to the Pollok area of the city. It will open in the spring of 2015 and help create up to 500 new jobs in total as a result of the leisure extension.

General manager David Pierotti said: "The signing of Zizzi and Pizza Express is great news for Silverburn.

"Alongside the introduction of Cineworld, our leisure extension reinforces the breadth and quality of Silverburn - great shops, fantastic restaurants and excellent entertainment too. Work's under way and we're excited about this next chapter.

"The new cinema will be spectacular. Beyond state-of-the-art technology, plush seating and being accessible to the south side of Glasgow, Ayrshire and beyond, the cinema won't just be used for showing blockbusters, it will also provide space for events, concert screenings, sporting and cultural events."
