Jordan McGuire, 23, from Ballantrae near Girvan, died a short time after he was found seriously injured at a flat in Shettleston Road, Glasgow yesterday.

As reported in later editions of last night's Evening Times, emergency services were called to a disturbance in the tenement block at 6.35am.

Mr McGuire was rushed by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but later died from his injuries.

Police cordoned off the area shortly before 7am as murder squad detectives began combing the first floor flat, close to the junction with South Vesalius Street, in a bid to establish what happened.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman today said a 23-year-old man has been arrested and is in police custody.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is due to appear in Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Shettleston Road was closed by police between the Kenmore Street junction and the Vesalius Street junction following the incident.

The cordons remained in place overnight and this morning while forensic teams continued their investigations. Drivers were being diverted through Old Shettleston Road.
