A MAN was arrested for immigration offences after a raid on a Glasgow newsagents.
The 24-year-old Pakistani man has been detained after Home Office workers swooped on a shop in Union Street, Glasgow, yesterday morning.
Several immigration enforcement officers were seen storming News 24, across from Central Station, at 9.30am.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers attended at News 24 in Union Street, Glasgow city centre around 9.30am on Wednesday February 4.
"A 24-year-old Pakistani man was arrested for immigration offences and has been detained while his case is progressed.
"The owner of the businesses is likely to be issued with a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 for employing the illegal worker will be imposed unless the employer can demonstrate that appropriate right to work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document."
