A MAN is to stand trial charged with causing the death of a woman in an alleged hit and run.

John Henderson made his first appearance in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.

Henderson is accused of colliding with and then running over Audrey Gray, aged 50, in the city's Govan area on May 4 last year.

The 55-year-old, of Holmpark, Bishopton in Renfrewshire, is alleged to have caused the death by driving dangerously.

He faces an alternative allegation of causing the woman's death while driving without due care and attention.

Henderson is further charged with failing to stop following the accident in the city's McGregor Street - which is near Ibrox Stadium.

His QC Gordon Jackson told the hearing that the case was ready for trial.

Judge Lady Rae set a trial due to begin in July.
