A MAN was rushed to hospital after being rescued from a house fire.
Fire crews from Ayr and Maybole raced to the house in Barbieston Road, Dalrymple after a 999 call was made around 8pm on Tuesday.
The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen.
Watch Manager Greig Flemming, the incident commander, said: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus conducted a search and rescue operation inside the property.
"They recovered a casualty and provided him with treatment for the effects of breathing in smoke.
"This was a fire within the kitchen of the house.
"Our teams confirmed no-one else was inside the property and extinguished the fire using a hosereel jet."
Firefighters remained at the scene until around 3am.
