Shot by Glasgow film- maker and photographer Dave Gillanders, 'The Dinky Ninja Fight Team' is about the group of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters of that name based at the Griphouse Gym in Possilpark. It follows five of the team as they prepare for crucial bouts and helps dispel some of the myths that surround MMA – widely considered the fastest growing sport in the world.
Dave, 41, discovered his passion for MMA when he was hired to spend a few weeks shooting with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Dan Hardy.
He said: "Following Dan Hardy around opened my eyes to the world of MMA.
"I had filmed a short film for Channel 4 which they loved and they asked me what I wanted to do next.
"I really wanted to do something on MMA and when I found the Griphouse I felt at home. I wanted to give these fighters the chance to explain why they compete."
The featured fighters are Paul McVeigh, James Doolan, Dean Reilly, Robert Whiteford and Sean Wright.
In the film, coach Guy Ramsay says: "We have to accept there's a measure of aggression in the human species. Allow a young boy to become a man because he's trained hard and won a boxing fight, not because he torched somebody's motor to prove who he is."
The Dinky Ninja Fight Team airs at 12.20am tomorrow.
