Matheson accuses six of 'trying to wreak revenge'

GLASGOW'S council leader has spoken out about the Labour rebels who quit the party, saying they should "examine their consciences".

Gordon Matheson accused them of "trying to wreak revenge" for being deselected and said the SNP was "welcome to them".

He claimed the rebellion had been due to internal grievances at the way the party had selected its candidates ahead of the council elections, which are in May.
