IT'S time to get your trainers on - the women's 10k is back.

Lingerie entrepreneur Michelle Mone officially kicked things off at the Emirates Arena yesterday (Monday) as preparations got underway for the event on May 17.

Michelle said: "I am really looking forward to taking part in the Morrison's Great Women's 10k.

"It will be fantastic to run in my home city alongside thousands of inspiring ladies."

She added: "I have worked very hard over the past few years to get myself fit and healthy.

"I've lost more than seven stone and I've managed to keep the weight off, which can be the hardest part."

Michelle is encouraging women across Glasgow to sign up for the run.

She smiled: "If I can do it, so can you."

Michelle was joined by novice runner Erica Thompson, who is determined to get fitter and healthier this year.

Erica, 32, said: "It has been fantastic to meet Michelle today and hear some of her advice on training and motivation.

"She has really encouraged me to go for it - I can't back out now."

The Morrison's Great Women's 10k is the UK's biggest women-only road race and thousands are expected to take part.

Elite athletes, charity runners and many women taking part to achieve a personal goal will fill the streets around the southside on May 17, cheered on by crowds and entertainers along the way.

Andy Mitchelmore, from event organiser Nova International, said: "Michelle is an inspirational woman both professionally and personally. I am sure many of our ladies will be inspired by her journey to fitness and will be keen to run alongside her."

It costs £26 to enter - visit www.greatrun.org/womens10k for more information, training plans and a route map.
