A MOTORCYCLIST who was thrown from his bike after colliding with a car has died.

Officers were called to the A827 between Ballinluig and Grantully, Perthshire, at 12.20pm yesterday.

A group of three motorcyclists had been travelling east along the road and were negotiating a left-hand bend when one bike collided with a black Vauxhall Astra travelling in the opposite direction, police said.

A spokesman added: "The rider was thrown from his bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The occupants of the Astra were not injured."

Officers are appealing for the occupants of a black or dark-coloured people carrier seen in the area shortly before the incident to contact police because it is likely they saw the crash.

The man was from the Stirling area but his name has not yet been made public.

Anyone with information relating to this incident have been asked to call police on 101.
