A HOST of musicians joined forces with a charity champion to help sick children.

More than a dozen singers, musicians and celebrities recorded a new charity single for Les Hoey's Dream Maker Foundation yesterday.

X-factor star Emily Middle- mas, Evening Times columnist Michelle McManus and River city actor Tom Urie were among those behind the microphone during the recording session.

The group flocked to the Carlton Studios to perform This Christmas, a song written by singer-songwriter Billy Warren especially for the charity.

Founder Les Hoey was overwhelmed with the generosity of the musicians helping on the track, and said: "Six of the kids going through their treatment helped to record the chorus and it means a lot to them. It takes their mind away from their treatment.

"I'm delighted that the artists have taken time out to do it as well.

"Hopefully it will give the charity more awareness and raise some funds, too."

Michelle McManus, who was recording with Nicholas MacDonald during the session, said: "I got involved as I've interviewed Les before and have seen the fantastic work he and his foundation do for the children. I'm happy to take part in anything to help them raise money for their charity.

"His work is incredible plus, it's Christmas and it's nice to be able to record a Christmas song."

Les's charity has been helping sick children from across Scotland for years and has introduced many to their music idols, including Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue and Jessie J.

Many of the children are suffering from life-threatening illnesses and the charity events help them to forget about their problems for a few hours and enjoy being youngsters again.

This coming Sunday, Les and his colleagues will host their annual Christmas party, attended by more than 150 children, football stars and celebrities.
