A CITY restaurant is serving up meatballs and urging men to grow moustaches to support the Movember cancer appeal.

Staff at the Butchershop Bar and Grill, in Sauchiehall Street, were inspired to grow facial hair and don fake moustaches in support of their colleague Jehad Hatu, 24, who, four months ago, was diagnosed with stage three testicular cancer.

In the spirit of Movember, which is held annually to raise awareness of men's health, chefs at the eatery will also be serving up a special pre-theatre menu, with £1 from each bill going to charities, including CLIC Sargent, where Jehad volunteers.

The menu will feature meatball subs, moustache cakes and special drinks, like the Bearded Scot.

Their month-long fundraising drive will end with a party to celebrate the best moustaches on Wednesday, November 28.

Jehad, who has been working at the Butchershop since August last year, is still fighting the disease.

Restaurant owner James Rusk said: "When we learnt that Jehad was diagnosed with testicular cancer we were all in shock.

"The courage he has shown is a reflection of Jehad's positive personality.

"We hope that everyone will join in our attempt to go tash- tastic and raise money for CLIC Sargent and Movember."

During November each year, tens of thousands of men around the world grow sponsored moustaches for the Movember charity.

The aim is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
