SURVIVOR Ela Weissberger lit the first of 70 candles created to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
Mrs Weissberger, who survived the Terezin concentration camp, will today visit Glasgow City Chambers to light another of the specially-commissioned candles that have been gifted to venues around the UK.
The 84-year-old had attended an event at Kyle Academy, which was shown via video link to schools around Scotland, to commemorate what was also the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp.
Today sees the City Chambers host the Glasgow Schools Holocaust Memorial Event.
Mrs Weissberger will speak of her experiences in Terezin. She will be joined by Hasan Hasanovic, 39, a survivor of the Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia, which also ended 20 years ago yesterday.
