NEW legislation aimed at ensuring Scots receive "seamless" care has been passed at Holyrood.
MSPs unanimously approved proposals from the Scottish Government which should mean health and social care services work more closely together.
The Public Bodies Bill sets out a new framework in legislation to allow for the integration of health and social care services.
Health Secretary Alex Neil said: "The whole point - indeed, the only point - of integrating health and social care is to improve people's lives. Our focus is on improving outcomes for people who use health and social care services, today, across Scotland."
He said previous attempts to bring the services together had failed.
