Cathcart MSP James Dornan turns Santa Claus today when he hands out hundreds of toys to local charities.

The politician has collected donations from constituents as part of an annual appeal.

Mr Dornan said: "The generosity that has been shown by the people of Cathcart is simply phenomenal.

"Every year the toy appeal gets bigger, and it's thanks to that generosity that we will be able to help more families and make Christmas special for more children across the south side."

The toys will be distributed to various charitable organisations across the constituency who have identified families that need help at Christmas.

Mr Dornan added: "Christmas can be an extremely expensive and often stressful time of year for people, particularly when people are often struggling financially and have to deal with the extra pressure that Christmas brings.

"What this appeal has done is brought out the very best in Glaswegians, who have refused to sit back and allow children to go without. Instead they've done something to help, and that help will go a long way for some families this Christmas."
