The body of Paul Cunningham, 35, was found in a tenement flat in Aberdour Street, Dennistoun at around 6.15pm on Monday.

A post-mortem has been carried out and Strathclyde Police have launched a murder investigation.

Police said they are making "extensive inquiries" in the local area and studying CCTV footage.

As reported in the Evening Times yesterday, the property was sealed off to allow police and forensic experts to make a detailed examination.

Police officers were seen at the entrance of the three-story sandstone tenement block in the quiet suburban street.

A patrol car was also on the pavement with a mobile police unit parked nearby.

Police said Mr Cunningham was last seen in the local area at around 11am on Friday, by a friend, and police want to speak to anyone who saw him after that.

Officers are also working to get as much information as possible on Mr Cunningham, his lifestyle and the people he associated with.

An incident room has been set up at London Road police station and relatives have been told. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Carey, of Strathclyde Police Major Investigation Team, said: "Extensive inquiries are being carried out in the local area and officers are currently studying CCTV footage in an effort to gather further information that may assist with this investigation.

"We are currently trying to piece together Mr Cunningham's last known movements.

"I would ask anyone who knew him and who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us as they may have information that will help our inquiry."
