JIM Murphy and Glasgow council leader Gordon Matheson are coming under fire this Hogmanay with both being revealed as the new targets of comic Jonathan Watson.

The new Labour leader - who was famously yolked during his referendum soapbox tour of Scotland - will be on the receiving end of a send-up as part of the festive Only An Excuse tv show.

And Mr Matheson - who shouted down the microphone during his Commonwealth Games speech - is also in the comic's sights.

Jonathan said: "One of the new ones if Jim Murphy. We were looking over things when we were filming and thought we should do a sketch with him.

"Over the last few years politics has crept into the show a little bit. So much has happened in Scotland this year with the referendum, the Games in Glasgow and the Ryder Cup. We cover all these events."

The tv show is more heavily influenced by politics this year, with Alex Salmond also said to feature.

Other new targets include Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson and pop star Ed Sheeran.

The nation's favourite football stars will still be in the spotlight but Jonathan said they had axed "some of the old favourites."

He added: "Celtic boss Ronny Deila makes an appearance and Paddy Bonner as well. I don't think he will be too cheesed off about what we've done."

Only An Excuse is on BBC1 at 11pm on Hogmanay.
