Glasgow-based Response has negotiated a £10 million deal with esure just weeks after beating rivals to a £20m ScottishPower contract.

The double boost was confirmed today and comes five years after esure chiefs first used the Citypoint call centre, in Tyndrum Street, next to the M8, to provide customer services.

Last year staff were also chosen to spearhead a drive by the insurance company for new business by contacting potential customers by phone.

Esure chiefs have now agreed to extend the contract over the next three years. The deal is thought to be worth at least £10m although neither the insurance provider nor Response would disclose the value of the new contract.

Instead, call centre managing director Brian Bannatyne said: "This is great news for Response and reflects the performance of our people in delivering fantastic sales results and excellent customer service."

Esure's head of sales and operational strategy, Eddie McDonald, added: "Our decision to extend our contract with Response for the provision of inbound and outbound sales and service activity follows a successful partnership over the past five years.

"Their services help us manage our resources carefully and to the best effect for the company."

Last month, Response agreed a £20m deal with ScottishPower to provide customer services for the next three years, creating 300 new jobs at Citypoint. Response has another location next to Ibrox Stadium, in Glasgow.

Despite losing 950 staff to rival call centre operator HEROtsc earlier this year the firm still has more than 1000 employees.

Workers moved over after Sky satellite bosses switched customer services to HEROtsc in a multi-million pound deal after deciding to sever links with Response, which had handled phone calls from Sky customers since the '90s.
