DETECTIVES were today trying to piece together the final movements of a murdered man.

John McCallum, 49, was found in his Clydebank home, with serious injuries after he was brutally attacked.

He was rushed to the Western Infirmary last Thursday, but died on Saturday.

Officers are trying to piece together Mr McCallum's movements in the hours leading up to the attack.

Police said Mr McCallum was found with serious injuries in his Meldrum Street home, at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

Detective Inspector George McAllister, fromMajor Investigations Teams, is leading the hunt for the killer.

He said: "We are currently carrying out door to door inquires within the local area in an attempt to find out the whereabouts of Mr McCallum prior to 9.30pm on Thursday.

"I'd also like to speak to anyone who was in Meldrum Street on Thursday evening.

"And may have either heard a disturbance from within Mr McCallum's home, noticed anyone entering or leaving the address or hanging about within the street."

Meanwhile, investigations are continuing after a 65-year-old man was murdered in a midnight attack in Glasgow.

The victim was found with serious injuries in Ardbeg Street, Govanhill, on Saturday night.

He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary, but later died from his wounds.

Officers were seen carrying out a finger tip search of and examining drains in their search for a weapon.
