A RANGERS fan has been banned from attending football matches for two years for making a Nazi salute at an Old Firm youth cup final.

Kevin Brannigan, 28, made the gesture at the Celtic v Rangers under-17s Glasgow Cup match at Firhill Stadium on April 29.

The match was the first meeting of the two teams since Rangers were liquidated and reformed to join the bottom tier of Scottish football.

The kick-off was delayed as supporters set off flares and smoke bombs and damaged seats in the stands.

Around 6000 people attended the match, and Rangers won the game 3-2.

Brannigan, from Glasgow, was filmed by police making the Nazi salute towards Celtic fans.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was given a two-year football banning order at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
