A STUNNING new trailer for the upcoming zombie film World War Z features amazing scenes of Glasgow, some shot from a helicopter high above the city.

The latest official trailer for the film, which stars Brad Pitt and is based on Max Brooks' novel of the same name, was released this morning, and Glasgow city centre has a starring role.

Glasgow was transformed into Philadelphia in the summer of 2011 as Brad Pitt and more than 1000 film crew moved in to shoot scenes for the movie.

In the second trailer for the film, directed by Marc Forster, terrified members of the public can be seen streaming across George Square in an attempt to escape from an unseen menace – presumably a horde of zombies.

And never-before-seen images shot from a helicopter above Glasgow show the chaos below on George Square.

Glasgow doubled for Philadelphia in the Paramount Pictures film, bringing £3.33million to the city's economy for the 17-day shoot.

Brad Pitt play UN worker and family man Gerry Lane. He is at the centre of a global zombie massacre as he battles to protect his wife and children, before being called on by the government to help.
